Recently my boyfriend was being silly and edited his Xbox profile at the amusement of his idiot friends who all encouraged him on with the questionable edit. Before I get into the actual edited information I just want to say, I realize that not ALL who play Xbox are adults. In fact, I am certain a good number of Xbox players are under the age of 18. Having said that, no matter the age, when I jump on the headset I am sometimes shocked at the things that come from the “mouth’s of babes”. Sure, shit slinging has and always will be a part of the gaming community but, I really don’t think anyone pays attention to the fact that there might be underage kids on voice as well. So ok…voice is full of cocksuckers, bitches, fat ass cows and dickheads. You can’t get away from it and to my knowledge I don’t believe Microsoft has found a way to filter it out.
But what about things that are typed? Is it really fair to censor that since the crimes committed in voice are far worse? Even worse than censorship, how about actually being banned from Xbox for something you typed? Is it really the responsibility of the players to monitor what they put in their profile? Is there no responsibility anymore on the side of the parent letting their kids view this stuff? And even more-so…do we really think kids have NEVER heard anything we might type? Come on! My 13 year old son said the “f” word the other day while playing Call of Duty (which he promptly had his mouth washed out for), but seriously, I know he didn’t hear it from me, it’s everywhere! And…I didn’t see him getting banned from Xbox for saying it either.
Imagine our surprise when my boyfriend signed onto his Xbox account only to find he had been banned for a full 24 hours (which is like death to him) for his profile edit which contained a taboo word. It was the longest 24 hours of our lives, and when it finally came back up his profile had been updated with “code of conduct” in every field. The punishment maybe have been adequate for the crime he committed, but seriously Microsoft…get off your high horse, cussing, trash talking, calling names, is never going to go away.
Admit it, there is nothing more thrilling than stomping the shit out of some asshat in a match and then hopping on the headset to gloat and tell him how fail he is! Or even better, watch them pout as they quit the match early to keep you from obtaining that “win”. But that doesn’t stop you does it? You still gloat. In fact, that only makes it worse. Now you get to call him a sore lose and a pussy for quitting! And yes, we all love to talk smack in our profiles as well or gloat about the awesomeness of ourselves.
So to Microsoft…and to you loser players who report others for “offensive language” shut your mouths, you know you talk shit when the time comes! You know you cuss, scream, and call names to all of those you pound so why fight it? And to those brave souls who shit sling both verbally and textually…Shit ya!

Really nice post, thanks for giving me something to read on while I munch on my cookies inbetween the beers!
How does Cataclysm expansion look on your end? Its been what now.. 3 months since Cata is out and, while it was rather good at the beginning, I’m starting to feel the good old grind comming back. Anyone else see this? Its like, you dont really bother to read the quest notes, just make a dull note how many “” you have to kill this time or what type of “postman” you are for now. I think, stripped down to the bone, World Of Warcraft is one enormous social network itself – only thing that still keeps me here from time to time (and yea, I get to DPS in raids) is the few good friends I’ve got to know there. Anyone else have similar feelings? I guess that this summer will be the biggest slowdown of all, after the Cataclysm hype will go down a bit.
